I’d hope you’d make it longer than that, but I get ya. I’d be really pleased if I could delight in retirement for a few being before I go. I just don’t want to be suffering too long in the end.

  4. legendofwayne Says:

    Thanks buddy.

  5. legendofwayne Says:

Yeah, for quite some time really. Thanks though. When I was doing the sketch videos and playing up the exaggerated Wayne character I couldn’t ever talk about it, because it obviously didn’t fit the “persona”. I used to take the ring off when I made those character vids, but occasionally I’d forget it. Surprised no one mentioned it before, but it was harder to notice back in the low-def days. Since I’m not exactly playing up a persona anymore, I just leave it on.

You get married buddy? If so congrats!!

i live in indiana so tobacco is somewhat cheap. convey tobacco here is i reckon at 7 or 9 percent tax.

  12. legendofwayne Says:

Depends where you live. In the USA it’s probably between $9-10 per tin. Canada it’s probably more like $20-30, and Australia is $50.

  13. kawaiininjakat Says:

I can really relate to the dementia side. My grandmother has it, and it’s downright terrifying so I’m with you on the whole what’s the point of living that long when it seems like that’s what you get to look forward to. If I live to 50 I’ll be fine with it. Haha.

  14. GAMEREVIEWERMAN Says:

how much was that tobacco tin cons. choice.

  15. patrickthepipe Says:

the ring is just a extra bit of art, it was never pushed on, but carved from the part its on! they where once one and the same.

I will take a stab at it… Since the convey design is some kind of bird talon grasping the convey bowl, the stem is the birds leg right? When birds are domesticated their legs are commonly adorned with rings that are really tags that identify them and their owner. The only reason I know that is… One time I shot a pigeon and it was wearing a ring… woops….

  17. h00bastank18 Says:

As far as the blockage in the stem, I had that same problem with my used meerschaum. Fascinatingly enough, my stem has nearly the exact same curvature. I finished up in succession, of all things, a guitar string (D) through it! It dislodged whatever was in there somewhat, but I still can’t get a convey cleaner all the way through; but, it did help.

  18. tattoome2000 Says:

use a florist wire on the stem, soak it in hot water for a bit and then use the wire as a convey cleaner. A small bit of elbow oil will pay off!

  19. tattoome2000 Says:

use a small florist wire to get through the stem, soak it and repeat this action. It will work with a small elbow oil!

  20. beckasherman Says:

I believe that is a ‘Curiosity ring’ really carved in this case when the barrel was shaped. For removal of char on the rim uses fine emery boards. To get the screw out, heat the stem with a hair dryer, grip it with your teeth and twist the bit. That should come out. To clear the stem, Use the long cleaners. burn off the first 4 inches of fuzz and dip in alcohol the wire will protrude far enough to grasp wit pliers and pull through. Try denture cleaner for the patina.

  25. PipesterJim Says:

Thank you! That confirms what I supposed. It was the only use for it I could reckon of!

  26. SpainPipe Says:

It’s also incredible how many people really treat their pipes like that Mark – just order some estates off eBay to find out ;-)

  27. tjlsanow Says:

Smoking the convey may help to loosen up the tar and gunk in the convey. Try cleaning it while it is still warm.
    Cheers,
    Tony.

This Ring on the stem… My grandfather had something quite similar as that on on his briar convey, but of sterling silver.
he went sailing quite often, and as long as he was on water he had a chain through that ring.
He wore this to prevent his Convey from falling into the water, if the sea gets too rough (painstakingly i lost one of my convey like that)
Wish you could see him like that, he looked like Poseidon himself (at least in my eyes).
Nice convey by the way, cheers.

Excellent luck, I never thought you could try to clean up a meer.

  31. Akibatai00 Says:

    That’s hard work….

  32. Flieger671 Says:

Excellent greif! I’ve been looking at some Meerschaum estate auctions over here but after seeing this I’m glad I didn’t bid on them. I reckon I’ll stick to estate briar and maybe get myself a new meer. Excellent work so far though, Jim! I hope you’ll get it as clean as you want in the end.
    Cheers,
    Mike

  33. PipesterJim Says:

Thank you. I reckon the loop will be coming off…can’t work out why it is there and it doesn’t do anything for the appearance imo.

  34. PipesterJim Says:

Cheers Ahmad. I am considering ordering some isopropyl alcohol for this one…been thinking about it for a while and it is very reasonable on ebay…cheaper than bar spirits and no doubt more effective too.
